Horton Durfee was born in N.Y. in 1925. After graduation from Darrow High School, New Lebanon, N.Y., he was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program at Syracuse Univ., Auburn Branch. The program was terminated at the beginning of 1944 and Durfee enlisted at Fort Dix, N.J. on February 12, 1944.
